  • One of the western tributary sources of the river Nene rises in the Parish.

5 Bells.
  • Treble.1913. Alfred Bowell. (5½ cwt.)
  • 2nd.      1611. “Newcombe”.   (6½ cwt.)
  • 3rd.       1682. Henry II Bagley.  (8 cwt.)
  • 4th.      *(No date). Edward Arnold of Leicester. (9½ cwt.)
  • Tenor. 1729. Thomas Eayre of Kettering.          (12½ cwt.)

*The bell is inscribed with the name of the vicar of West Haddon. Local records indicate that James Charters (or Chartres) was at West Haddon from 1784 to 1823.
Edward Arnold was at Leicester from 1784 to 1799 so we can almost assume that the bell was cast during this period at Leicester.

Accessibility to Church.
A series of 4 short flights of several steps & landings from the road, lead up to the south door of the Church.

Toilet Facilities.

Observations.

Ropes 2 & 3 drop close to south wall.

The Earlier Bells.

It is recorded, there were 5 bells in 1878.

  • The previous treble was cast in 1636 by Hugh II Watts.
  • The 4th. cast in 1611 by Newcombe of Leicester.
  • The 5th.(Tenor), an “Alphabet” bell by the Newcombe or Watts family, possibly cast maybe in the similar era as the 4th. bell.
    (Further research is required.)
