Treble & Tenor, Weights & Dates

A guide to weights & dates, of treble & tenor bells in the North-west Northamptonshire area.

Some of the bells have never been weighed, so published estimated weights based on established bell diameter tables are shown instead.

A further uncertainty currently exists at a number of locations. Displayed records within actual towers can indicate weights, different to those listed below. These alternative figures vary from a few pounds to nearly 1 cwt.
In due course, tower records will also be shown alongside existing entries.
(further research is required).

Weight of each bell shown traditionally in imperial measurements:-
cwt-quarters-pounds. 1 cwt =112lbs. 1 quarter= 28lbs.
(112lbs = 50.802 kg.)
Bell diameters shown in inches. (1 inch = 25.4 mm.)
